Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on March 26th in 1991. She's an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. She released her first EP with the label on October 21 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she began gaining notoriety. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012 following the release of her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The year 2014 saw her continue to upload her music via the web, including her own launched single Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes, in Sweat It Out on July 21 the 21st of July, 2015. The following year, her music began to circulate around the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some potential references to Rihanna. On the 8th of December, it was announced that she was officially signed by Dreamville Records. She made an appearance on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. In October of 2016 she dropped her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance on behalf of J. Cole on his track Change in 2017, and performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. in 2018, the singer-songwriter guested on two tracks with EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas, on Icarus. Ari Lennox's debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on 16 July 2018. The debut single, called Whipped Cream The album's first single, Whipped Cream came out September 5, 2018 with the music video. She released her second single Grampa on November 9. Then on the 13th of November two singles titled No One and pedigree. She appeared with Cole on the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby the 16th of November 16th, and made the track available in a solo version for her debut album. It was released with the music video which debuted in February 20th, 2019 and surpassed 3 million views on YouTube within one week. She was the supporting act for 6LACK in the From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
